I have constant pain in my lower left side of my back (almost waist) down my left leg. When I sit for long periods it hurts more. However, the pain is pretty consistent. I'm walking with a limp and it hurts terribly. I have been taking 2 Aleve every 4 hrs and its not working. Is it a pinched nerve? and Would I see a Chiropractor or ?? I made a Drs appt but can't get in for another week unless I went to Emergency and I don't want to do that just yet.

Thank you for your input,

Yes, I would definately suggest going to a chiropractor. He/she can find the cause and most likely correct it for you. Many chiropractors are licensed in accupuncture also. An MD could very likely just prescribe you a pain killer instead of dealing with the problem, which sounds like isn't working for you now anyway.

You may have sciatica, which is an irritation of the sciatic nerve that runs from the lower back and down the leg.

I happen to be a fan of chiropractic when it is muscle/nerve related pain. In any case, a chiropractor can diagnose the issue and assist with your treatment unless you live in a state where they are restricted.

Yes, see a chiropractor. It sounds like sciatica. You may have misaligned vertebrae that are impinging on your sciatic nerve.
Usually, when it is an emergency, you can get to see a chiro right away. You may even feel some relief after the first treatment.
I am a long-time chiropractic patient who is always helped by spinal adjustments.

Emergency will probably provide you with pain killers and refer you to you your GP might do an X-Ray to check bones. I suffered badly for nearly two years with acute gout the pain was so unbearable my muscles just froze rigid. A&E would not help at all.

To cut a long story short I found a good GP that was also a specialist in this field. I found some medication for me and it went. But I was left with a lot of pain and a limp still. The Muscles in my feet etc had contracted so badly to allow me to walk I could no longer relax.

He figured it out on the 2nd visit and gave me a cortazone injection in my foot 2 hours later I was on my feet again.

I would advise you to look for a good GP and stick with them they will solve it. Also a good physiotherapist can do a lot to relax your muscles and diagnose your problem due to their experience. A friend of mine is a sports physio and he fixed a torn muscle under my shoulder blade in a couple of hours after 12 months of agony and sleepless nights.

Definately see your doc first if not happy with their input find another doc. If muscular etc see a physio as well.

it sounds like a sciatic nerve issue, I have issues with this myself. Chances are your muscels are pincing this nerve. I would suggest doing some stretching. Continue to take the aleve, also try Motrin. Make sure you go to your Doctor as soon as you can . A trip to the chiroprator could help until you can make it to the doctor. I did some physical therapy for mine.

You have an immediate situation so you should be able to see a doc sooner than in one week. Do not see anyone else yet until you get a diagnosis. I would call the clinic back and ask to be seen sooner.

take it from me, the best professional to see is your doctor of chiropractic. i see this all the time and it's very effective. if you have a change to your bowel and/or bladder, skip the chiropractor and go to the er. but most cases, the chiropractor is the best professional to go to for this.
