We are only inviting our parents and siblings to the beach for our wedding. Is it ok to have a reception at a restaraunt about a few months after the wedding or do you think people will be upset that they weren't invited to the wedding? We just want it personal and private but I still want to celebrate with friends.

That sounds fine to me. I did that too. We had a private wedding (only two witnesses and a judge) and then had a reception - a sit down dinner - six months later. Everyone was OK with that.

We managed it by, yes, sending out formal invitations, but rewording it so people would know it was just a reception to celebrate the marriage and not a wedding ceremony. Whoever you order invitations from should be able to help you with appropriate wording.

Congratulations and enjoy your special day!

You have about a 3 month window to have the reception after the wedding.

In today's society almost anything goes as far as weddings and receptions. My nephew got married in Hawaii with only his mother and the bride's mother and had a reception in the States six months later. We all knew about the wedding and were able to see pictures within hours and were so happy for them and were really excited at the reception later. Good luck to you and God Bless your marriage.

I would personally have a few friends and family over to your house. Have it be very informal. People can still celebrate, but it will be so relaxed and un-wedding-ish that no one will bat an eyelash about having such a late reception.

I do not think its a problem having a reception when you return or a couple months later. I have been to these parties both ways. I didn't mind it at all. Its just a party, and any reason for a party to get together with friends is acceptable. If it bothers them SO much then they are not really friends. Its your wedding anyways. Do it however YOU want to .

Absolutly!! Many people do this now a days. When you have you invitations printed ask for other options rather than the usual "rehersal to be held..." many people put something like. Rehersal will be held at a later time.

This is something people do when they are being married and it might be too far for everyone to travel or if the location is too small.

Good luck.

Sure! Lots of people do this, especially since destination weddings are becoming so popular.

Go for it and have a wonderful time!

Yes, but make it a few weeks rather than a few months later.
Good luck
