No, do the crime, do the time, he probably like mentioned above and didnt want to pull you over till you stopped on your own so you wouldnt take off like an idiot trying to get away and hurt or kill somebody in the process. No sympathy from me!

Yeah, like the others have stated, it's pretty much a bad situation for you. I'd start looking for a lawyer. Don't play around with this. Good representation can be the difference between a bad situation and a horrible one.
Check out this page for a breakdown of the California DUI procedure, and lawyers that have free consultations:

you may not particularly thoroughly characterize your self in those rather complicated situations(different than in very unusual circumstances and in basic terms upon particular application and sufficiently supported by way of a working understanding of California DUI regulation). Why? because of the fact: "a individual who represents himself or herself has a fool for a lawyer." California DUI an rather expert component to regulation with greater and greater harsh California DUI consequences. there are various complicated procedural, evidentiary, constitutional, sentencing and administrative license California DUI subject concerns. An experienced California DUI lawyer can evaluate the case for California DUI defects, suppress California DUI info, compel discovery of such California DUI products as calibration / maintenance information for the California DUI breath device, negotiate for a lesser can charge or decreased sentence, acquire expert witnesses for any California DUI trial, contest the California DMV administrative consistent with se license suspension, and otherwise undertaking one's California DUI case in many achieveable methods.

Quite probably, yes. For most people it takes about one hour for the alcohol they consume to reach the peak blood level. This is called rising alcohol. If it can be shown that the alcohol reading obtained AFTER the arrest, meaning at the station or hospital, is the peak, then the level MUST have been lower when you were driving.
In other words, you were over the legal level at the station, but that was when you would have been at home, NOT when you were actually driving.

If the officer observed the violation occur on the street, then the reasonable suspicion for the detention is good.
In fact, under CA law a DUI can occur ANYWHERE - even on private property. However, chances are he developed cause when he saw you driving.
Consult local counsel.

No, you can be pulled over for a DUI anywhere. You were driving while intoxicated on public streets and committed a serious violation in his presence. Glad you made it home safe, he probably was just checking to see what you were doing and where you were going. He doesn't need a reason for that.
