well it depends on how dedicated u r and wat u use to learn it. if ur planning on being fluent, ur gonna need a lot of practice so id say bout 3 or 4 yrs. if ur just looking to learn the basics, you could learn it in about a year if ur rly dedicated. like take a english spanish dictionary w/ u and practice kinda dedication. its gonna take work. but w/ those high tech programs out there i think u can do it! a tip for learning spanish vocabulary is writing the spanish word on one side of a notecard and its english equivalent on the other side! That way you can take the notecards wherever you go and can study them if you are waiting somewhere with nothing to do! I personally find using notecards a great tool to helping me memorize things. Wellf if you study it here it can take you a long time to learn it.But if you move to a spanish speaking country, then it will faster.I learned English in a year but it was because I moved here.

learn the basic Spanish first. then go to an immersion program where you will live with a Mexican family in Mexico for 6 months. after that, you will have it down pretty well. the program doesn't cost very much and you will have a blast.
