Is it harmful to take 2 glasses of orange juice

From: Sapna
Question: I started this diet recently. Am I eating more or do I have to reduce intake? Can I have 2 glasses of orange juice? Can you tell me good diet if the above diet is not good?

Ans: Sapna, if you are following this diet to loose weight then your intake is more. But if you want to maintain your weight then it is fine. No harm in taking two glasses of orange juice but it is better to have whole orange since then you will get fibre also from it. Try to include wheat products in your diet.

Vitamin C is water soluable, meaning if you get more than you need, it simply passes through you. If you're thirsty enough for two full glasses of orange juice, go ahead. As for whether it's a good diet. JUST orange juice isn't good, since orange juice lacks dozens of other vitamins and minerals needed to live, plus it lacks fats, protein, and complex carbohydrates. What else you eat and how much you eat is important. If, for example, you're eating chocolate cake all day, then drinking two glasses of milk probably won't help you ;-).

diets are normally bad for you because they cause you to limit or eliminate the intake of essential and necessary nutrients in an attempt to avoid fats, carbs, sugars etc.

Eat healthy, three times a day, using the guidelines of the american medical association, the USDA and other such reputable bodies.

Eat sensibly and EXCERCISE daily and you will attain the body you desire normally. Starving yourself or denying yourself certain foods will inevitably lash back on you.

Educate yourself as to the benefits and drawbacks of certain foods and learn to simply make better choices...not fewer.

And yes....have the orange juice. It's a good source of Vitamin C and can be fortified to have other nutrients such as calcium. It is slightly high in carbs but that will be fine if you simply exercise a little. hope this helps.

Not sure what your dietary goal is. Weight loss? Orange juice is very good for you and drinking 2 glasses will not hurt you, but you need to keep in mind that it does contain sugar, so if you are limiting that on your diet for any reason, I would be careful.

Store-bought orange juice generally has sugar added. More sugar = more calories = bad for your diet.

True, orange juice has vitamin C and other good stuff, but if you want that you'd be better off eating an orange - that way you'd get a good dose of fiber. Fiber is very good for dieters - it makes you feel fuller, longer.

Orange Juice is really healthy for you, but be sure not to go to far with your diet because if you fast or something, you'll get really unhealthy.

Good luck!
