Well, let's see.
We bombed them, destroyed their infrastructure, alienated the Sunni's by firing the army (making a lot of unemployed and very cranky young men), rounded people up or raided their homes in the middle of the night, tortured and raped thousands, dropped cluster bombs on residential areas, flattened entire cities, made millions homeless, ....
Silly them for being cranky.
After all, they now have no stability, constant violence and kidnapping, no water or electricity, no jobs, women can't leave their homes unless coverd up and accompanied by a male relative, and more than 650,000 dead (and counting) -- the ingrates.
Death is liberation; poverty is wealth; darkness is light.

There are a lot of responders that just hate America.
First off, we are not leberating their oil, other wise the president have gas prices around $1.50 to boost his ratings.
Early on he caught some flack because he refused to let Iraqi oil help pay for our fighting.
Second off, i have a classmate in my Government class that just came back from a tour in Iraq. He said that the citizens want our military there because we're the only ones fighting the car bombers and trying to help. No one else is trying to help.
The people we are fighting are people who are trying to take power after Sadam was taken out. If we leave, the only forces left would be a weak government that is trying to be accepted as legitement to it's own people, and the other forces that are using genocide in markets to reach power.
Once they get power, what tactics do you think they will use to keep it?
Not trying to slam you or anything, but people need to really think about whats going on over there. The Iraqi's don't want to kill us, the people who are killing with IED's and car bombs want to kill us, because we won't let them take over.

Your question of liberation, depends on which Iraqy you are talking about.
Also how would you feel if the Iraqy's were over here liberating you? Would you thank them or tell them to mind their own business and get lost?

You don't know what you are talking about.
We are fighting insurgents, a lot of them aren't even from Iraq. The Iraqis who are trying to kill us are usually just doing it for the money. Someone will give them a weeks pay to set off an IED on a US convoy so they do it, it doesn't have anything to do with their beliefs.

human nature. how many times have you been nice to some one and they have been nice in return. now how many times have you yelled at some one and gotten the same response back. we can not say we are liberating when the reality is we are trying to get the oil. if we were really liberating people we would be in darfur and northern ireland. and how come we are busy negotiating with insurgents when our basic policy is we do NOT negotiate with terrorists. we twist and turn the english language to our own advantage. liberate your brains.

You must be a republican...
Imagine Japan, China or Russia coming to the United States saying "Hey you low lifes, you dont have much to offer but we will take everything you have anyways, use it against you and then turn your government into ours...oh yeah and we will stay in your country for years and keep raping your women and children and killing everyone as we see fit."

Iran wants Iraq and has fought for that territory before, they are sending over terrorists (insurgents).
Bin Ladin wants Afganistan back, they are sending over insurgents. It's not the homeland Iraqi people who appreciate what we are doing.

they will not be liberated until we stop occupying them.
many people believe the propaganda that it is "only a few" people in iraq that hate us. or that its "iranian insurgents" that is a lie, they are trying to drum up support for a war with iran.
