I think more like 10-11pm would be acceptable, you don't want to be that lame mother who only lets their kids stay out till seven,
I understand that you want to have your kids home so they stay out of trouble and what not, but their are limits to how protective you are, if you are to protective, the teen will feel like you are treating them like a baby, and this will often cause them to rebel.
As long as the teenager is responsible, you should be okay with a later curfew, but make a set of rules or something so they know their boundries, such as: they have to tell you where they r going.
Hope I helped.

I am a mother of 2 and although they are not teenagers yet I don't think any law should require my children to be home so early. My 5 year old doesn't even stop playing by 7 some nights. If the law said 10:00pm i would say that is a little more reasonable even 11:00pm but ultimatly it is the parents desision. Hopefully those parents will have the sense to restrict what there teen does during the week and weekend for that matter. Teens are not adults yet and still need to have restrictions and be taught how to do the right thing. I don't think teens that run around at all hours of the night all the time are being taught the responsible and respectful things.

hmmm. While I think it is a good idea to have your teenagers home by 7pm, I think this law would be a bit unrealistic.

There are many times that high school events (such as basketball/baseball games, open houses, plays, etc) take place AFTER seven on school nights. If this law were to pass, I am assuming the teen would not be allowed out on the streets without a parent. This would make it pretty hard for some kids to be involved in extra curricular activities.

Don't get me wrong, I think a 7pm curfew on school nights is a fine idea...but its something that should be a parents responsibility to enforce...not the government's.

In my old hometown, the curfew is 9 on school nights for everyone 16 and under. 7 is way too early and unsensible. After 9, you can still be outside, but you have to be on your own property or a friends property. You're not allowed to walk the streets at night if you're under 16. If they catch you, the cops will pick you up and drive you home and probably talk to your parents about curfew enforcement.

Huh??!!? 7 is too early for teens-most high school sports activities start at 7. Maybe the players would have the ok to be out but what about the fans-school spirit and such. And do you want the police tied up checking every teen to see what reason they have to be out at such an early time. 10 or 11 on a school night maybe, but not 7.

I don't think it's a good idea, 7 is still pretty early maybe more line 10 since most kids in school should not be out that late on a school night, but I feel things like that should be handled by parents.

how about 9pm? i know that wednesday church for baptists dont let out till 8:30pm. you might want to consider sports and other extra curricular activities. my daughter's 9yr. old and her folklorico class gets out at 7:00pm but the next class with teens starts at 7:15pm. you may be going a bit overboard on the curfew at 7. push it back to 9.

I think 7p.m. is completely unreasonable. That is way too early. Some sports or plays don't even START until 7p.m.! I think a better curfew would be 11 or 12.

Laws should only be created to directly protect people's rights guaranteed to them in the Constitution and its Amendments. This country is becoming fascist. In short, no.

Its not a matter of right and wrong; its a matter of who's decision it is to make. I don't think its the government's.

it all depends on the teen... for some it would be a good idea... but then you have to take into consideration those who work and are responsible... how about study groups... or younger teens in colleges... some classes go until 11... why do you want it to be a law...? please let me know...
