Some parents have a difficult time realizing that their children are grown up and have opinions of their own. I see my dad twice a month, I have a family of my own, but he still thinks that I don't know enough to have an opinion. I learned to live with it, and I do voice my opinions when it is an issue I believe in. I also learned patience from him, I listen to my kids and let them tell me why they think what they do.

Assuming that you're still living at home, this is something you have to deal with. In time, your parents will come to see you as an adult with valid thoughts and opinions -- but that takes a great deal of time.

Arguing usually ends with someone losing their temper. You can simply say "I disagree", and leave it at that. You can't change your parents' point of view -- if they give you a chance to state yours, that's more than some teens get.

Are you still living in your fathers house? Eating his food? Driving his car? On his insurance policy? If you are and are a student, I suggest you keep your mouth shut until you get out of school. Then you can get a job and be your own man. Just remember that you can say anything to someone if you say it with kind words. You're not your father's equal. If the point of view is not that important, just let it go and make it easy on yourself. Godloveya.

Use their point of view against them.
Like if you wanted a dog and your dad said no. You should say i know the dog will have to be trained but he could offer protection and compainionship and loyalty. That whay he would have to agree.
Basically just pretend that you are just like him not wanting something. Then just think about if you did get something what advantages the thing could have.
