No, you're not too old, I'm 52 and learning Portuguese as I like going to Portugal etc on holiday and think it's only right to be able to communicate, however simply, with the locals.Surely this it doubly true in your own country.
If you're still in Surrey it will be difficult as it is a living language and best learnt by conversation with locals.Just learning rules, grammar and syntax from books would be offputting. Come back to Wales..the NW..the stronghold of the language on holiday, you would be most welcome.

HI! Even though you naturally pick new things easier when you're a kid it's never too late to learn anything new. Your brain is capable of picking up new skills and developing new neural pathways all the way through life as long as you keep your brain active. You just have to put in a lot of practice. I'd say go for it, you'll feel a sense of achievement and you will have learned a skill that you've always wanted to master.

I'm learning Welsh at age 22, and I'm not even Welsh (even though my ancestors were). I have a love of the language, and believe that it is important to keep alive such an ancient language that was spoke in Britain way before English developed.

We all as a family speak Welsh, I spoke Welsh before English! My step father, however, could not, but at the ripe old age of 65, began learning last year, 2 hour class a week!
You are never to old to learn anything!

I could name several people who waited until retirement before learning Welsh -- and who are doing very well indeed. Compared to them you are a spring chicken!

You won't have a problem over pronounciation, because you would have absorbed that into your system when very young. So all that remains is vocabulary, grammar and practice! Join a class so that you can be in company while learning. Watch Welsh tv with subtitles. Get yourself a few kiddy books and study them in private to absorb simple vocabulary. And remember: "Meistr pob gwaith yw ymarfer" -- practice is the master of all work.

Sut mae! Sut wyt ti?

Hell no!! I'm 16 years old and I'm trying to be a welsh teacher, you can never be too old to learn any language, including welsh. It is a hard subject to learn and it does take a few years to speak it properly, but you will get there.
