Because we're genuinely curious about what people believe. Things don't have to be hostile here. Unfortunately, they are.

Agnostic , but I will answer.
For me its because I cant fathom why you do believe what you believe about God(s) origin and afterlife , and specially why you often claim it as Truth or Knowledge.
Because it is in my nature to question things I don't understand. ( as I understand so far is something looked on by the religious as a Bad thing )
Sometimes because I want to influence people not to teach said Faith in the form of Truth and Fact to there children as I view it as child abuse.

Can you explain why it's contradictory in the details? Seriously. I'd like to know why you think so.

lol@Icarus' answer because I totally agree.
I am neither Christian nor Atheist but I respect both sides of the issue.
Chrsitans always asking Atheists stupid questions about what or how they beleive in hopes that they can scramble back to their Bible's in hopes of finding a solution to induct them and CHANGE them.Because of course their religion is the ONLY correct one their BELEIF is the ONLY correct one. They are always in need of saving people who either don't give 2 $hits or trying to save people that don't beleive in or agree with THEIR religion. Its an endless cycle.
And Atheists answer the stupid questions and explain themselves to a bunch of people who will truly never understand your perception of Freedom seperate of THEIR religion.BUt eventually I hope they will understand without the need of converting any one to the other side...
Just My Thoughts,

I don't ask questions about god... I don't believe in an omnipotent creator being.

I guess you should qualify your question. What kind of questions are they asking? Give us some links and maybe we can see what you are talking about.

You mean like "Why does god allow children to starve?"
Maybe because it is a loaded question with the intention of getting theists to think.
Why would an all loving god, if it exists, allow children to starve to death?

They are not asking questions about god. They are asking about your belief in god.
