I applaud you for taking the initiative to want to do it right. First, ask her when she will have time to think about it and not feel cornered. DO NOT ask her in front of people. This is for your safety as well as hers. You dont' want her to feel pressured into accpeting or rejecting your invitation.
Do your research before you ask her out. What does she like, do you think you would have a good time with her or is the attraction physical? There is nothing worse tham going on a date with someone who you think is great and then finding out he/she is a dud.
When you do ask her, don't play games and be non-chalant. Just ask her and wait for her response. If she says yes, make the decision where to go/what to do TOGETHER. But make it special, buy her flowers, open the darn car door (keep chivalry alive) and use your manners.
If she happens to reject you, don't give up. She may not be the right one, but the right one is there somewhere.

Well, going "out" on a date is a big deal, so it's best to slyly use an oblique angle of approach.
Approach the subject when you see her and ask how she is doing. Really care about her answer and make some small talk. If she says something funny, tell her she's funny, then say, "hey, I'd like to get together later and talk some more. You know, get to know you better. How about we go to _____ after _____?"
Go to a coffe shop, or ice cream, or the mall or something and just hang out and have fun.
Then you ask her out on a date.

You need to steal yourself with confidence.
Think about what you want to say - and say it without conveying nervousness.
Be prepared for NO - her parents may not let her date or she may not be ready herself or she may ligetimately have other plans.
Don't take her NO personally. Just move on. "No? OK. Just thought I'd ask. Maybe another time." and then leave or stay whichever makes sense to you at the time.
Would you like to go bowling this Friday?
I haven't seen this movie yet - would you like to see it with me this Friday?
Also be prepared for YES. How much of a date do you want? Movie or dinner and a movie? Will you pick her up or meet her there?
Yes? Great! How about I pick you up around 7? Can I get your phone and email so we can work out the details as Friday gets closer?
Also be prepared for MAYBE. Maybe she needs to see if she can get out her current plans.
Be sure to ask on Monday if you want a date on Friday.
Good luck! Don't be afraid of hearing NO - nothing is worse than analysis paralysis! Ask her so you can go on to the step.

When I was single and was being asked out the guys that got my attention the best were the ones who came right out and just asked. Instead of beating around the bush forever, they just came out and said it. "Would you like to go out sometime?" Have an idea of what you would like to do on that first date and give her an idea of what might go on, "I thought maybe we could grab a bite to eat and maybe go see a movie, I heard _________ was good." Just be upfront and honest.

It is not just what you say, but how you say it. Simply introduce yourself, give her a complement, and offer her the invitation to where you want to take her. Say it with confidence, warmth, and a smile; and it will work so much better.
