I have already paid for a sound man at the church and I intend to play 2 songs on a CD during the ceremony. Should I pay an extra $50 just to have a woman play the prelude music or will other CD's be fine? Please let me know your opinion.

Since you are using your sound man to play a cd for your other music, I think using another cd for the prelude will be fine.

I'd probably opt for all the music on CD. However...

The only reason for having a pianist is to calm the guests if there happens to be something that causes delay(s)...then the piano would signal the entry of the bride when it's happening.

You might have a bit of a problem finding the proper "cut" on the CD for the type of music you want at a given moment.

If money's no object, perhaps the pianist would be appropriate as well.

No, don't hire the pianist. Just put more songs on the CD. Not only would hiring her be a waste of money, but the sound difference between a live pianist and a recorded CD (which has other instruments) can be jarring if you were to switch between the two. It just won't sound right.

This is your wedding, Do what you want. But I would just play the CD. You will get the same effect and save $50. It really doesn't matter. The only thing that does matter is that your getting married. Good Luck and congratulations!!

Church organs sound so beautiful, I would pay the extra money and have the woman play the prelude.

It's up to you. But there's NOTHING like live music.

I went to a bridal show yesterday. There was a string quartet performing BEAUTIFULLY for hire for weddings & other events. You can get any combo of the 4, have other instruments added, etc, all for a price.
One musician gets $250 for the first hour. I'd say $50 is a bargain.

The CDs would be fine, but if you could afford it, the piano would be wonderful as well, but I would also ask around, you never know which friends of yours may play the piano, or co workers, or friends of friends who may be willing to play for free for you. Good luck, and congratulations!!

We used CDs at my wedding and a piano at my sisters. Both were nice but I save a chunk of $ on my CD.

If you are able to pay that extra money then don't think go for it. But also keep CD arrangement with you, if you can.

My vote is for the piano. If you don't want to pay for a piano player, you can always check your guest list for a family member or friend that pays the piano...that way you'll save a little money and involve family or friends.
