We need meat! It has vitamins that our body needs to stay healthy! Besides, why else would God put cows (and other meat animals) on the Earth? To be looked at? Even though it is a little bit sad that cows are killed, they would otherwise spend their lives doing nothing else but mooing and eating. But don't get me wrong, it is so wrong when people put all this bad medicine into cows to make them grow faster! Mean, mean people!!

Vegetarian!!!!! First off, nutritionally, the human body is not built to properly run on meat. We aren't equipped with many of the same biological indicators as carnivores or omnivores. Our teeth, the lack of certain enzymes, as well as our digestional tract all point to the fact that humans are designed to eat plants, not other animals. One has only to look at the LENGTH of our digestional tract to see that we shouldn't be putting meat in it. Animals that are "built" to eat meat have short tracts that have particular enzymes that work very quickly to pull nutrients out of the meat so that they can pass it out of their bodies before it begins to rot within them. Our bodies on the other hand hold on to what we eat much longer, and our digestion takes a considerable amount of time; it can be hours, or even days, before humans excrete the waste of the food that they ingested. During that time, the meat is actually putrefying within a person's body. People that eat an abundance of meat are much more likely to develop diseases and cancers related to the digestion/excretion systems. Diets high in meat also are associated with greatly increased risk of cardiovascular disease and death. I don't want to go on writing so much that no one will even read this, but when a person eats meat it's like putting the wrong type of fuel in a vehicle; sure, it may run on it, but in time it will cause it to break down and die because of it. I've been a total vegetarian for most of my life, a person does not NEED to eat meat; I've developed healthy, strong, and intelligent (Physically active, Captain of sports teams in High School, IQ over 160.) All of the nutrients we need can be found without killing an animal to get it. Protein, vitamins, even the much talked about Omega 3s can be found within a vegetarian diet.

With all of that said, the reason I stopped eating meat was not for the nutritional benefits, but for moral reasons. There is nothing more selfish or repugnant than the taking of another's life.

People can be vegetarians when they're adults but teens, children and infants with all of their teeth need meat for the protein. Eating meat once or twice a day will keep you from starving and is necessary for growth. Once you stop growing, you don't have to worry about it any more.

If you are a vegetarian and you have children, please consult a Pediatrician or Dietician for an appropriate diet for your children.

It tastes good and life is way too short to deny ourselves a little meat every once in awhile. Moderation is Key.

I dont think we need it though, I've cut back to eating meat a couple of times a month and do not notice much difference in my energy level.

Well I myself prefer meat but no we don't actually "need" meat, you can get proetin from other things other than meat. Some people substitute peanut butter for protein instead of meat. Peanut butter is high in protein. Even the meatless veggie burgers are high in protein because they have soy beans in them. All beans are a good source of protein. Even though some of us choose to eat meat we don't actually need it to survive or live healthy.

There's no reason we "need" meat. People eat it because they want to. Plenty of scientific evidence that it's possible to live long lives as an herbivore. Anyone ever argue with you, point them at a horse. Not many creatures stronger than them.

You don't need meat (to cool dude-proteins come in many forms) as long as you eat properly and take supplements where needed (namely vitamin B12).
Our teeth do say we're meant to be omnivores.
But it's a personal choice, who am I to judge?
