God gives grace to the humble and crushes the proud. If you are refering to the shephard analogy in Chritianity, then you are taking it out of context of why we need a shephard. Read John 10:1-18 carefully and slowly and try to understand what Jesus is saying by saying "I am the good shephard." Whether you like to admit or not we all follow something, so why not follow God, He is the only one who will for sure lead us into the right direction.
