great! sounds like you're doing the right thing. Your doctor of chiropractic will diagnose and treat accordingly. Then make sure he/she helps you learn preventative measures so that doesn't happen again. Make sure to give your mom extra help while she heals. It's not easy to go through back problems!

Dear lord, don't start with the chiropractor!!! If she hurts herself she needs to go to the doctor. A chiropractor doesn't have a medical license, they have a very narrow scope of practice. Hopefully this isn't something serious because it's possible the chiro could make it even worse.
Don't get me wrong, there is a place for chiropractic medicine, but they are more in line with a good massage therapist than a practicing medical doctor.

She should go to the doctor first. If she has pain down the side of the leg can mean a slipped disc, which is more serious, so she'll want to get that ruled out. I'm not knocking chiropractors, but it did not help me and my back long term. What helped me was doing yoga which carefully stretched and strengthened the muscles.
And I don't lift anymore heavy stuff!
Hope she's feeling better soon :)

Don't go to a chiropractor or physical therapist. They put your body back into alignment with great force and can cause more problems or hurt her back and hip more. She needs a massage therapist who will relax all the muscles that have tightened up from the injury and will make a gentle gradual adjustment. It may take a few visits to the therapist to fully relax and realign but it will work without force.

File a worker's comp report.

Let her rest, put some ice on the injured areas. I'd also try some ibuprofen (advil) for the pain.

There you go, chiropractor is good.

To avoid further injury if she lifts heavy things a lot get her a backbrace, this will help avoid further injury.

Also tell her she must lift with her legs, never with her back, it will break you.

Be sure she has filed a workman's comp claim and that she is going to be seen at the clinic required by her employer....

I would suggest bed rest with big pillows underneath her knees. It takes a while to heal.
