I know a lot of wine makers in Northern Italy. But would like to know how do become a wine distributor. I currently live in the US (New Mexico) and would love more info!

Become a Wine Consultant, you don't need a licence to do that.

Typically it is a long and tedious process. Check your local laws and get with it. However, I wish you well, as you'll have the pure joy of competing against Southern in the state of NM.

Additionally, plan on having a good financial backing from the beginning. As they always say, the way to make a small fortune in the wine business is to start with a LARGE fortune!

Really complicated. Look into your state's liquor distribution laws. There are also issues of importation and exclusivity that also need to be considered. A lot has to do with licensing and franchising.
