Both of my babies have always been so very affectionate. When we are having love time, they do the usuall thing cats do and rub their scent glands on their faces all over me and give me lots of kisses too. But what i dont get is why they feel they have to franticly lick my ears out, of cause they pur like mad in the process. Do you think they like the taste of ear wax, he he.

Animals clean the ears and groom other animals that they deem their superior. I think they are are showing that you are dominant and they are submissive.

I don't think its an ear thing. I believe it just a thing. We have a rather large male kittie at home who loves to bite my wife's ear. She gets really mad at him, but he butters up to her and the next thing,BANG, he does it again. Also, we have a one year old small female, that will want me to pick her up, and she will put her front paws on my chest, grab my beard and snap her head to the side. That hurts, and its always on my right side. The point here is, our large male bites my wife's ear, but not mine. I don"t know about the female pulling my wife's whiskers, so far she has refused to grow a beard. But I'm working on that!

omg thats what one of my cats does! i have absolutely no idea why she does it though, maybe its just something random that she likes doing! but people on ya have said its a comfort thing + they sometimes do that if they were taken away from their mother too soon or it just shows that they see you as a 'mother figure'
but i dunno why they go for the ears though because ear wax must taste absolutely disgusting!!! lol

No, they are taking care of you. Cats (and dogs, too) clean each other's ears. Cats and dogs who don't get their ears cleaned are susceptible to infections. It's an act of trust and familiarity. It shows they consider you one of the family.

no.. it isn't the ear wax. It is because of the texture and crenellations of our ear lobes - feels a little like a momma cat's belly and teat to kittens.

They are showing you love and affection! Also, maybe you need to take care of your ears better, they may be trying to tell you something....like buy a box of Q-tips? LOL! I bet it tickles when they do that!!!

they might... but that just sounds nasty... you might be encouraging them to pick up bad habits.
