(1) If a husband is violently beating up his wife and kids, is that reason to divorce him? Keep in mind, one of Jesus' opinions on divorce was that it was allowed ONLY if one person committs fornication (cheats). "Whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery." -- Matthew 5:32 (Also see Matthew 19:9)

(2) Since fundamentalist Christians sects apply biblical rules in everything, does that mean that their statistically HIGH divorce rate is only as a result of cheating?

(3) If so, why IS there so much infidelity in Christian marriages?

(4) Back to question (1) Jesus actually had another opinion about divorce and that was that it was 100% not allowed! (the scriptures Catholics refer to) Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery. -- Mark 10:11 (see Luke 16:18 too).

So last question- How do you rationalize this dilemma? And do forgive me for fitting 4 questions into one. LOL.

Praise be to Allah.

You can add another question, what if the husband is unfaithful?

I don't think anyone ever said that Christians are perfect. If we were, then the death, burial and Resurrection of Christ would not have been necessary. To answer your second question no, the high divorce rate in the church is not just the result of cheating spouses, but also because of the worldliness that has crept in the church among other reasons. Now, if a husband is beating on his wife and is being disobedient to the scripture that says "Husbands love your wives as Christ love the Church and gave himself for it" She can separate from him without divorcing him. If that husband is not a believer and he decides that he wants a divorce the Bible says that the believing spouse is not bound in such a case. In order to properly understand what Jesus was saying in Mark, you would have to know Old Testament Law and also how the Pharisees twisted things so that a man could marry, divorce his wife for almost no cause and then remarry without penalty. Jesus taught that this is sin, because God hates divorce. You are right in saying that the divorce rate in the church is extremely high, and to me this is quite frustrating. But, I continue to pray for my brothers and sisters because God honors marriage and so do I.

1. Needs to be read a little clearer. Jesus is saying that anyone (man or woman) who puts away their spouse so that they can go out and have sexual relations with others causes adultery on both parts.

2. Who stated the divorce rate was high among "fundamentalist Christians" than any other sect?

3. It is not just in Christian marriages. It is within ANY marriage where the Lord is not put first within both hearts and souls. Christians are "more likely" to fall under infidelity because of our freedom of religion. People are free to worship how they want and "who" they want because of God's initial free will.

4. Two people who are joined together in HOLY matrimony make a vow in front of one another, in front of loved ones, and most importantly, in front of GOD. If we were to do what the Lord said we SHOULD do, there would be absolutely no reason whatsoever to want to divorce. You take a vow and swear an oath. It used to be that a man's word was his heart and soul. All you need is your word. To swear that oath in front of GOD for a life long committement only to brake it later means neither one of you did what you were supposed to do.

This is yet another reason why modern revelation is so important.

One of Jesus Christ's prophets has said in modern times that there are only a few justifyable reasons for divorce.

Infidelity
Homosexuality - either partner
Spousal abuse
Child abuse

These and other serious crimes justify a rare, but always tragic divorce, especially if children are involved. Divorce on demand is the cause of immense suffering in our society, and children bear the burden of most of that suffering.

No rationalization necessary.Cleary, the doctrines of men are not always Biblical and should not be followed by a true Christian.Divorce to avoid danger is acceptable. But don't make the leap to jusification for remarriage...for it can't be found in the New Testament...which always has the last word on everything.
