I really don't know if i should eat or not- if i don't eat i may get tired, if i do eat, i may get a cramp when i am jogging. also, i'm trying to lose weight, so whats the best food to eat considering i dont want a energy bar with 1500 calories and 20 fat grams.

Also, should i drink water before hand or during to prevent cramping (which happens to me a lot) ?

Always eat before a workout, just not directly before. Give your body about an hour or so to allow the food to digest. That way, regardless of the intensity, you more than likely won't regurgitate. Do NOT stay away from carbohydrates because they are your body's main source of energy, and they will provide the fuel you need to get through your workout. The ideal meal would be something along the lines of oatmeal, fruit, and possibly whey -- if you have it. As for water, drink it before, during, and immediately after. Just don't overindulge because that could lead to water intoxication.

If you are trying to lose weight and do jogging or other cardio stuff, you do need to eat before, but it needs to be an hour/hour 30 minutes before you start. If you try to work out with no fuel in your body, you will only end up hurting yourself.

Some good things to eat before working out are 'complex' carbs such as brown rice- those will give you the energy without the guilt. When people say cut out carbs, what you should really do is just cut out simple carbs- not carbs altogether! It freaks me out when people say to completely cut something out- your body needs a little bit of just about everything!

You may want to consider a HEALTHY energy drink. I drink one that is great for my workouts and exercises. It works in 10-15 minutes after I drink it, lasts for several hours, makes me feel really great, and helps my mental alertness.

dont eat before. u will almost certainly puke it back up. if u feel u need to eat, then eat a couple of crackers, fruit or veggies an hr or so before going. if u are trying to lose weight then stay away from carbs (and those diet bars). they are packed full of carbs for athletes to get thru their workout...not necessarily ppl trying to lose weight. drink water during, before and after ur workout. its important that u stay hydrated (if u become dehydrated then u will get tired and feel sluggish and not be able to complete workout)
