I personally would say no. If he dicks your sister over, you're either not going to be able to forgive him and your friendship is over, OR your sister won't be able to forgive him and then if you do she'll be pissed at you.

Or she could dick him over, lol, and then you're screwed in both ends.

Well ask your self this, LET HIM? Does your sister wish to date him? I think it was very respectful for him to ask you, however does he really need your permission? Is it a good idea or bad, well that depends, if things go bad relationship wise and do not work out between your sister and your mate could you be impartial and remain friends with him? I think because of the situation it does place you in the center, however permission is not needed by you for two to date. So I would advise you to sit with both them over some coffee or tea and let them know you are not to be placed in the middle of any relationship woes, and be up front however of physical harm against your sister how you would feel. Then let nature take its course. Good luck mate.

As has been said before, if they fall out in some way, it'll be extremely awkward for him and you and your sister. On the other hand, if they stay together, your brother in law would also be a mate of yours which would make for happy families!

I understand why you're uncomfortable with it though, a friend of mine married her best mates brother, and after the initial upset from her best mate, they got on okay, only for it to all go wrong. None of them have been on speaking terms for eight years now....

Bro's before Ho's.
This situation would cause nothing but drama.

What are you gonna do if he cheats on her? Breaks her heart? He's going to expect you to side with him. What if the roles are reversed? She'll expect you to side with her since blood is thicker than water.

Either way, you're sister will be part of your life FOREVER, you're best friend will not. I would never date one of my brother's friends out of respect for him. Too much drama and if he does date her, you're relationship will be forever scarred.

I would tell him no. But if you really don't care then give him the thumbs up. Just know that he's going to be with your sister all the time now and you guys won't be doing much together.

If he is good enough to be your "best mate" then shouldn't he be good enough for your sister? Besides, he is less likely to break her heart because of your bond. That is so romantic to ask your permission!!!!

Hard one. I know how it must feel and the thoughts that must run through your head, but I wouldnt say no- if he is a good guy and you think he wont treat her wrong let him get on with it.

Thats very personal....you have to consider some facts

1. What if he hurts your sister....If he hurts her you are going to want to hurt him

2. What if you and him get into a fight . You will have to see him around all the time because he is with your sister

Just be careful. I personally wouldnt do it, but the choice is all yours

I think if you believe that he is a good guy then you should let them date.

If you're OK thats fine, but he does not need your permission... "should I let him"....
If he's a good guy then at least you know she's going to be OK.
