I don't really understand the "blue laws." Most people stock up on Saturday nights.
Sunday is not the Sabbath, the seventh day would be Saturday and you can buy beer all day long on Saturday.
Right now, you can't buy beer on Sunday because of our laws. I understand that there is a religious backing for those laws, and while I personally think drinking (especially in excess) is bad for people for non-religious reasons, I don't understand the religious involvement in it.

Because certain indiviuals are being a bunch of ninnies. Paraphrasing Ben Franlkin: Beer is evidence that God loves us and wants us to be happy. Where the freak did that deity go? Everybody remember the water into wine trick? If that isn't an endorsement for getting your drink on, I don't know what is.

I've noticed other answers don't really address the reasoning behind the Blue Laws. I'm going to guess that it has something to do with altering your body and state of mind, though I wonder about this since people used to drink nearly exclusively alcohol before we figured out the contamination issues with water.
I guess that alcohol can lead to sin, though I'd imagine that anyone wanting to sin will do so with or without alcohol. So, those seem to be the general ideas, but I'm just not convinced they are valid. In the end, I guess somebody decided alcohol is bad and so we can't promote that on the sabbath.
Of course, this should have no bearing on our laws, but...

Since my sabbath is sundown Friday night till sundown Saturday night, I'd say if you can't buy alcohol, its most likely because you're not old enough. Quite honestly, if you know you can't buy it on Sunday's, then go to the store Saturday, you don't really have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out.

Romania is a very religious country, but also the country with the most alcoholics. If it were forbidden to buy beer here on sunday, God would be killed by Romanians.
So, whenever you need beer on a sunday, just buzz me!

You must live in Georgia (as I do).
You can go to a bar or restaurant on a Sunday, order all the booze you want, and then get in your car and drive home risking the lives of others, but you can't go to the store and buy some, and then take it home and drink it in the safety of your living room? Why?
BECAUSE JESUS DON'T WANT YOU GETTIN' DRUNK ON SUNDAY!!!

I'm a Christian, but personally find all blue laws and Sunday shopping prohibitions to be ridiculous. They're being overturned in many areas.
