I'm trying to install Fedora on an HP 8562 with a Pentium 3. I tried ubuntu, but that didn't work very well on it. After using the first disc, it said it was corrupt. I used an i386 cd written in 4X.

So-
1. Is the HP 8562 with P3 an i386 or x86_64?
2. Which write speed should I use to burn the cd with the iso? (the cds say 1x-40x)
3. Anything else that might've caused the issue?

Thanks

Note- the "corrupt" problem was on a Fedora disc, not ubuntu

i386 is correct. Burn the cd again and at boot up you can test all of the media to see if you have good discs.

Burn the iso to a disc, put it into the cd/dvd optical drive and reboot, choose to check the disc for errors (Ubuntu has a program already on the disk to check for defects), once this is done install your new operating system.
You may want to try Xubuntu or Ubuntu Lite depending on your computer's specs, these programs are designed to be run on slightly older systems or run extremely fast on newer systems, as they use less of your computer's resources.
Note: If you are using a rewriteable cd (cd-rw), they are sometimes rather finnicky. It may be better to use a regular cd-r.

i386 is the correct version for your P3. x86_64 is for the newer 64 bit processors.

Write speed would have nothing to do with it, sounds like you just had a bad disk, try re burning the iso.
