I would be so happy that a person was kind enough to realise that I may be in need of help and a kind word to the Father will always make me smile, so thank you for your prayers and I encourage everyone to pray more for others because its the best gift you could probably give them. Take care Heather

It's not as much the prayer that I would object to. If someone is praying for me, unsolicited, because they truly care about me, then I'm not offended at all. What is offensive is when people give you the condescending "I'll pray for you..." as if they're somehow better than you. It is especially offensive when you don't have the same beliefs as they do. If someone truly cares about you, then they wouldn't need to TELL you that they're going to pray for you, they would just DO it out of the goodness of their hearts and a sincere belief that it might be helpful. It's the boastful insincerity that is offensive, not the prayer.

I don't object to people who pray for me, it's more that I think that there's probably something more constructive that they could be doing with that time. I don't believe in god, ergo I believe that prayer is a waste of time, and that you're just talking to yourself. I don't mind that people choose to waste their time praying for whatever they pray for, but I can't help but feel bad when they waste that time on my behalf even if I didn't ask them to (not that I ever would ask someone to do that anyway).

If you really want to do something that I'll appreciate, take that time that you would have spent praying for me, and instead spend it with a loved one, or volunteer for a charity, or do practically anything else that would help or benefit someone in a real and tangible way. That, I could feel good about. I firmly believe that hands that help accomplish infinitely more than lips that pray.

i attempt to be sure I pray for those in want and hurting all throughout the time of the international,in spite of race, coloration and creed. we frequently think of our lives are crammed with issues yet once you're feeling down its stable to easily take a walk and you wont would desire to pass some distance to make certain somebody who has lots extra problems and motives to sense down than we do. As i've got reported many cases in answer to diverse questions,we would desire to continuously all sense blessed. For if we are at a working laptop or computing gadget answering those questions then its a distinctly stable indication none all and sundry is homeless,or hungry with the aid of sheer poverty or unavailability of nutrition and we've a mattress to sleep in. Too many human beings in this international have purely the floor as a mattress, and no concept whilst or what they are going to consume next with the aid of no fault of their own I pray for those people who've had no selection than that of turning right into a refugee. those human beings have lost actual each and every thing and each and every day brings yet another of countless waiting in nutrition strains or strolling a number of ks to get clean water in an attempt to easily stay to tell the story and carry to the desire that issues gets extra advantageous.. they have not purely lost their residences, land and textile issues yet additionally their cultural and private identity.purely take a 2nd to ask your self how could you're looking after loosing each and every thing and being pushed aside each and every so often continuously from the persons and land you like and care approximately. each and every so often even their language, cultural background and faith is taken from them or banned, then they actual replace into as strangers in a standard land and may well be in the prayers human beings all..

Because it is disrespectful more often than not.

Is your faith so weak you cannot consider other people's faith strong, so you assume that since your prayers are meaningless everyone treats them as such?

I have a friend, a good friend, who is a Satanist. Would you accept prayers for you on her behalf? If you would not, you KNOW the answer to your question!

The Abrahamic god repells me. I would no more want my name and his in the same sentence than I would want my name said with Charles Manson! A god that would have a hell! A god that would have people convert only on the words of others without evidence! A god that would punish people for living their lives as they were born to! A god that would kill his son to prove he "loved" people?!?!?Such a god! Leave me out of that god's world!

The only way I could accept a prayer from such a god's followers would be if I believed that they didn't believe that themselves.

Because most of the time it isn't unsolicited. Why tell me that your praying for me? do you want a pat on the back?

If it was sincere, I would not object.

Too many insincere people will pray in this manner:
Since I am right and they are wrong, make them a little better.

Just like the laughing with / laughing at distinction, there is a praying for / praying at dichotomy.

Keri - I pray for all of us often. And yes, if someone has turned away from God and is trying to turn others from him, I pray for them as well. Praying is my way of forgiving and continuing to love even those who would hurt me. Our prayers belong to us, if others are offended, that is okay, I do not care if they are angry at me.

I don't object, it's better than condemning me to hell but you have many people in your life more worthy of a prayer than me, a stranger.

I would never, ever object to a prayer on my behalf. The Bible tells us to pray one for another.
