I think it depends on the person whether Christian or not. I do believe some people when they say this to me and not others. You can usually catch an ill intentioned 'love' statement in a shortish amount of time. As to whether it is 'good things' or 'taking a bullet', again I think it depends on the person. I'm always surprised at what people are willing to do to protect total strangers from harm.

I'm a believer and I do not love you. I don't ever tell total strangers that I love them. My gay uncle used to tell me all the time he loved me, and I wished that he would become a stranger. Instead, when he tried to come on to me, I had to skulldrag his sorry *** on the concrete floor. If anyone, Christian or not, EVER comes up to me in a public place and says, "I love you", I will interpret that as a form of sexual harassment and signal the police if they are close by. Christ said to go into the world and spread the gospel; not to walk up to total strangers and say, "I love you." In some places, you could get shot for saying that to someone. The reason Christians do this is because of the so-called "everybody be happy and LOVE someone today" doctrine that got started in the early 70's. Get away from it. It's clouding what ever sense you've got left. If I were an atheist and some fine babe walked up to me and said in the name of her religion, "I love you!", I wouldn't stand there and say, "Wow! You've converted me with such an overt display of religious love!" Please. I would more likely say something like, "You love me, huh? Would you be willing to "prove" that back at my place?"

Christians are challenged to love anyone on earth and Jesus our Christ took a bullet for all of mankind when he died (was nailed to a tree)on the cross for every sin ever. All we have to do is believe in Him.
God created good and mankind made a mess out of it. Jesus came to set the way and is the light to get us out of our man created darkness (evil)
Yes we are supposed to love and it is hard to even love family sometimes. But for us to be like God and be with his son in Heaven we have to love, forgive and truly believe that Jesus is the way.
I love you and may my blessings protect your family and you forever.

The love that Christ describes which we must strive to attain simply puts means this.. Think of who you hate the most. who you cant stand. who you despise everything about. Now when that person goes to hell which u want him 2 because he deserves it right?? It means you instead of going to sit in heaven with God you instead choose to go to hell to find a way to free that person..This is the love that Christ has and the love we to must possess if we are to sit with our Father
