Hi Darlin
it sounds as though you have a genuine interest in this guy. That is awesome..
There are benefits to being with someone in the military. However not everyone who get's involved with a military individual, realizes the challenges that may come your way. At least you've opened your mind to the possiblities.
If you decide to be with this gentleman be prepared to go the distance, no matter what (FOR HIM). The military enviroment will teach you a lot about yourself, and your loved one, and before you know it. It'll make you so strong...that you'll realize what you used to stress over. Will turn out to be a small ordeal...
Keep your head held high..and if he is the man of your dreams. Follow him on all the adventures that life create's for the two of you.
(military spouse 11 years now)
Good Luck Sweets..

My boyfriend is in Iraq right now. He's not in the navy, he's in the Air Force. I'll tell you right now - 2 weeks is NOTHING - My man is gone for a year. Yeah, it sucks when they're gone - but if you love them, why would you not wait. Theres always the chance they wont come back....but there's that same chance they wont come back when they walk out the door and get into a car to go anywhere. If you love him, and he's the one you want - then it's worth it. Trust me. And when they get back from being gone for so long -- everything just seems to fall right back into place - it's amazing :)

You made your decision, now you won't to go back on it. Being with someone who is in the armed forces is probably very difficult and challenging. If you are having second thoughts about being with him then it's best if you end it now then later. This way it is fair for the both of you.

I wouldn't worry so much about him dying as the venereal diseases he's going to pick up in the Philippine houses of ill repute (not to mention all the hot, steamy Navy buttsecks in the shower).
If you want to be strong, tell him he can enjoy himself when on shore leave, but he should make sure to wear condoms.

A man in the military can't put his wife or children first. Period.
It's not just him sacrificing for the public service, it's the whole family.
You have to decide whether you're willing to make that sacrifice for yourself, and whether you want your children to make those sacrifices (since obviously you are required to decide for them).

Hold on in there, if you love him you will do whatever it takes to have his back. Pretty soon it will be over and things will get much better for you two. Have patience and faith. God won't give you too much that you can't handle. ;-)
God Bless & Good Luck!

You know how they separate the men from the boys in the Navy, right?
