Mmm, well, there's probably an argument for managing traffic at any large event. But I think churches should reimburse the police for managing traffic.

I've never heard of that, but regardless of your beliefs, if it is only one day out of the week, I can't understand how that might really bother you. And more than likely, this is the wrong place to ask that question. Try asking one of the cops if it really bothers you that much, or even try asking one of your local councilmen. The police have a job to protect and to serve. They are there to make sure that the safety of the general public is protected as well as they can. I would see no difference in what they're doing for the church versus what they do at football games, basketball games, town meetings and etc. It probably bothers you more because it has to do with church, as with the other complainers that have responded to your question.

I've been Christian all my life, and have never heard of such a thing. I've gone to services at huge cathedrals, where you'd think that traffic could be a problem, but the only police officers I saw there were the ones actually attending the service. Anyway, even though I'm a churchgoer myself, I'd have to agree that the police force probably has better things to do than to police church traffic.

Brill-,
Evidentally, they believe that the traffic problems would cause accidents and make certain that those accidents do not occur. This is a preventive measure and makes more sense than cleaning up a mess and writing up reports of accidents that occured after the accidents happened as a result of not preplanning. When funeral homes have burial parties the police also assist with their safety concerns. When there are a large number of people at ballgames the police also assist with traffic control for those events. Do you not see that those events are important in keeping all citizens safe and secure in their travels? I DO! I hope that this makes sense. Have a great week.
Thanks,.

What do you know? The intersection at my church is a dangerous one. Until we could get the cops out there, we had plenty of accidents, quite a few deaths. I have a horrible memory of driving by after church to see the priest running across the church yard to a car, surrounded by the ambulance crew with the jaws of life, in case he had to give last rites! Isn't human life worth taking an hour out of their day, or are you so selfish that you'd allow people to die because you have a chip on your shoulder concerning Christians!

This is a really great question, I had never really thought about how much tax money is going to this.
Though if you have ever been in a church parking lot, you would see that after the services are over - all of the parishoners are driving like bats out of hell to get out of there!!!

Police gat paid overtime to provide this first of all. And the amount of Christians that attend Church should help to enlighten you. The police are there to make sure that we have an opportunity to leave the facility. Much like concerts or sporting events do the same thing.

probably via point of mistrust and animosity American Muslims face on a on a daily basis foundation. additionally, i detect that Christians are no longer almost as committed to their traditions as Muslims. I advise, those people pray 5 situations an afternoon, getting up interior the wee hours of the morning, and speedy for a complete month. i think of they are slightly extra obdurate whilst it is composed of their non secular rights than Christians because of this sense of duty.

Many times they are off duty policemen who are paid by the church for the service of directing traffic. This is for everyone's safety.

Because they have the right to free religion. Its just like how the Shi'a had protection from the army during their holy days in Iraq. They are on a peaceful journey and should be allowed to do so uninterrupted.
