Dr. Thomas Sullivan, a pediatric neurologist, says that the equipment that humans use to sense pain includes special pain receptors in nerve endings that connect nerve fibers to transmit signals from the receptor to the spinal cord; neurons within the spinal cord that carry the signal to the brain; the thalamus, which senses the pain; and the cortex, which supplies psychological responses to the pain and also directs a response. All of this complex equipment is in place, says Dr. Sullivan, "perhaps as early as eight weeks, but certainly by thirteen and a half weeks."

Happykid, here is another.

Dr. William Matviuw, an obstetrician/gynecologist, says that the nerves that sense pain reach the skin of the fetus by the ninth week of gestation, and that detectable brain activity in response to noxious (harmful or damaging) stimuli occurs between the eighth and tenth week (as noted in Stanislaw Reinis and Jerome M. Goldman, The Development of the Brain, 1980, pp. 223-235. Springfield, Ill., Charles C. Thomas Publishers).

Pain can be detected when nociceptors (pain receptors) discharge electrical impulses to the spinal cord and brain. These fire impulses outward, telling the muscles and body to react. These can be measured. Mountcastle, Medical Physiology, St. Louis: C.V. Mosby, pp. 391-427 "Lip tactile response may be evoked by the end of the 7th week. At 11 weeks, the face and all parts of the upper and lower extremities are sensitive to touch. By 13 1/2 to 14 weeks, the entire body surface, except for the back and the top of the head, are sensitive to pain." S. Reinis & J. Goldman, The Development of the Brain C. Thomas Pub., 1980

Try sticking an infant with a pin and you know what happens. She opens her mouth to cry and also pulls away.

Try sticking an 8 week old human fetus in the palm of his hand. He opens his mouth and pulls his hand away.

A more technical description would add that changes in heart rate and fetal movement also suggest that intrauterine manipulations are painful to the fetus. Volman & Pearson, "What the Fetus Feels," British Med. Journal, Jan. 26, 1980, pp. 233-234.

Yes hon, I did know. There was a report in...'New Scientist' I think it was a few years back that had images of a baby crying out in pain when it was being aborted.

I'm glad you put this and I will certainly be checking out this persons report. Thankyou.

Public school "sex ed" taught me that that there are ASTRONOMICAL odds of a sperm leaving the penis, traveling through the vaginal walls up to the egg, and then even more astronomical that the sperm has any energy left to penetrate the egg ... even after that amazing little sperm penetrates the egg, it's still at risk of not developing.

Then the supreme court says, "8 Weeks" ... duality going on there in the USA government I think ... they teach miracle then say, oops it's not a miracle.

"Pain" is an afterthought the woman conciders when having an abortion. In this order, is the reasons prompting abortions:

1. She has low self-esteem.
2. She doesn't have faith in her sexual partner.
3. She doesn't have faith in her family (Mom, Dad, Siblings)
4. She doesn’t' have faith in her friends.
5. She doesn't have faith in society. Will society help her if all else has failed? Will war, genocide, environmental changes, crimes against love and family (child molesters, pedophiles, porno, adultery, beatings, divorce) or other social issues make her drop faith in a good life for the child.

After these considerations are weighed in on ... the woman will finally look at where does life being, and if the fetus will have pain. You want to save the babies? Save the woman and make society safe for children and you'll save those babies.

Yep, and they respond to good things too, like the sound of the mother's voice. There are real horror stories from the abortion mills. Sounds, sights and other things that women, doctors and accomplices will have to answer to.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I did know that. Human development psychologists consider development to begin at conception.

I have often wondered why God would cause so much pain.

But then God has shown himself to be less loving than the average human.

I love my children unconditionally…I don’t require them to worship me.

I don’t choose favorites…I wouldn’t reveal myself to some, but not others

If one of my children ate an apple after I told them not to…I wouldn’t punish my grandchildren and every generation thereafter

If I someone was harming my children (Satan), and I had the power to stop him, I would stop him.

I would forgive all of my children for any deed. They wouldn’t even need to ask.

I believe there is no religion without love. You can talk about it all you want, but if it doesn’t teach you to be kind and generous to ALL living things, it’s a sham.

What is your point? Unborn whales, elephants, and chimps feel pain too. And did you know that born children feel pain? There are millions of them starving to death and being murdered in Africa right now. I don't see too many sanctimonious American Christians rushing over there to help them.

Wow. One guy, and he said PERHAPS - but thats enough to convince YOU?

Sounds to me like abortion is still cool for at least the first three months then, right??
