Don't make it and embarassing thing, make it a: Hey it's going to be much better sex if we use this stuff.

You shouldn't be nervous about it, if you're having sex you should be adult about the situation. Tell him that when you're having sex it might feel a little smoother if you both had some lube on.

If you're nervous about it, just buy a little tube and tell him to play with it and you, and I think he might get the message.

ETA: I disagree with what someone said about "spit", if you're using condoms the spit can dry out the protective coating and make it more vulnerable to splitting. Hence instead of an enzyme based fluid (like saliva) that breaks down molecules, you use a water based lubricant like KY Jelly.

Just buy a bottle of KY at the store and introduce it right before you get it on with him. He'll know what it is when you show him the bottle. Besides, if you get the kind with the warming sensation, then you can just pretend you are experimenting and he won't wonder why you need lubricant.

Tell him you want to try something new.... before having sex use the lube on yourself. While you are having sex, pull out the bottle and add a little more so that he knows why you are so "slippery" - try to rub a bit on his balls too to make it more interesting for him.

The first time I introduced lube my lover had no idea what was going on, I used a good smelling/flavored one.... it really heated things up.... we are married now and sometimes he reaches for it just because it's more fun....

If you don't want to surprise him with it... give him a full body massage: rub his back, legs arms, chest and feet with baby oil, and switch to a lube when you begin to massage his penis. Add a bit more lube before having sex.

Men are usually pretty comfortable with using lubricants... so don't worry too much.

Hey do you want to use lubricant? See how easy that was. He won't mind because he is a dude.

Tell him that you feel a little uncomfortable when your having intercourse. Tell that to him in a way he wants to hear it. For example: "We need to use lubricant because your penis is too big"

Just be upfront and tell him that you NEED to use a lubricant. End of story.

If he donesnt know what lubricant is he shouldnt be having sex.

Otherwise - just tell him. If you're sleeping with him then you should be comfortable enough to tell him what you want.
