Spanky has a way with words - his advice is right on in my opinion. I just wanted to pass on something that has happened to me over the years coming to Thailand - before I ever moved here.
There is a "circuit" in Thailand that many people follow: Banglampoo (Khao Sarn Road) in Bangkok, the bars in Chiang Mai, likewise for Pattaya, Phuket and Koh Samui (especially Lamai and Chaweng on the east side) - with a trip over to the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan.
While all these places have a lot to offer like bars and restaurants, and loads of Western travellers, they can be the worst places for interacting with Thais and Thai culture - since these Thais have been saturated with Farangs for so many years. So you might want to try and deviate from the circuit and use your imagination unless you want to only experience a lot of the same travellers and the same Western influence you have grown up with. If you have to go to Phuket, for example, maybe choose a place other than Nathong, more quiet places on Samui, etc etc. Hope u have a great trip.

I think the best thing abt being in Thailand is just - "being" - in Thailand - meet Thai people, eat Thai food - let your trip unravel slowly in front of you - take it easy.. relax, don't rush abt and feel you have to do this or that.. W/o knowing your interests, I won't bother with recommendations - but best to come here w/no particular plans and let your interests carry you - if you are open, things will happen for you here... so, toss out your must see list, kiss g-bye your have to do list - and if a couple of days disappear on a beach, in a lounge chair, eating papaya salad - ahhhhh, thats the good life...

I know it might sound like a mad idea but do not try and spend some time in Bangkok. So many people rush down to the islands and miss ut on some great things to do and see in Bangkok.
I woul ddoign things such as buying a tailor amde suit or dress (my wife got our wedding clothes made there), visit the main palace there, go on the water taxi, go to a decent jazz club etc. You can find everythign you possibly need to know in the Bangko or Thailand Lonely Planet travel guide.
We also used http://www.holiday-velvet.com/bangkok to book a rental apartment. I am not sure of your budget but they were good.

The easiest way to learn golf like a pro is by following "The Simple Golf Swing" program. It's primarily a 31 page eBook that teaches golfers how to make solid contact with the ball, how to avoid hitting fat, how to avoid slicing, how get more power, accuracy, and consistency in your swing. Consistency being the number 1 golf skill.

You not only get the eBook though, you also receive a ton of extra material including video, lessons on putting, driving, chipping, sand play etc. Here is their official site: http://www.golfswingguru.net

Go to places off the beaten track, I loved the true Thailand, visit temples you are always welcome there. I spent 2 months there and didnt do any touristy places, it was heaven. You will see why Thailand is called the "Land of Smiles"

You will love it there because of the diversity of each area.
Bangkok is urban, busy; a twelve-ring circus!
Phuket is a big more laid-back, touristy and has the beautiful beaches
AoNang is less populated, has gorgeous beaches and sight-seeing to the neighboring islands.
PhiPhi is a touristy tropical area but a must-see
The people are friendly, food and lodging is very reasonable, and I'd go back in a heartbeat!
Enjoy!!!
