I like http://www.orbitz.com for researching cheap flights. I also use google to look for tourist information in the places am going. Hotels.com is also a great tood to use for inexpensive hotels. But I only use these kinds of sites for research, I prefer to book directly with the airline and hotel, normally you'll get a better price and you are considered of higher value with the airline or hotel, since you didn't book through a 3rd party.

Expedia.com and Orbitz.com are reputable sites that have good deals. Stay away from "unknown" sites. CheapHotels.com is a good one for rooms only. If your are into cruises, and can leave on a moments notice, CheapCruises.com has incredible deals but they are booking last minute cabins. Not much time to plan.
