Your body your tattoo, how can anyone tell you what to have and where to have it???

You should change the title from I'm getting a tattoo TO I'm thinking of getting a tattoo but have no clue what i want so whatever everyone tells me to have then i'll go and get it on my body for the rest of my life because i can't think for myself or use my imagination.

You want peoples advice so i'll put in my idea. I think you should have a tattoo on your forehead with arrows pointing saying ----->>>>>INSERT BRAIN HERE <<<<----

Honestly, if you can't figure out what you what the tattoo to be of, you're probably only getting it because you want a tattoo for the bragging rights. Tattoos, whilst they are fun to share, should be for one's own enjoyment. The odds are if you aren't getting it because it's something important to you, you're going to regret it later.

I'm getting a tattoo for my birthday, in May. However, I drew up my own design, so I was absolutely certain it was perfect in MY eyes and no one elses. I'm also choosing to wait until my birthday which is in a little less than 7 weeks, to make sure I don't change my mind about it. If you really want a tattoo, perhaps you could do the same. Find something you believe in or something that is a major part of your personality and draw up a design for it. If you're not quite an artist (I'm not either) perhaps ask a close friend to help you. Just don't get one for the sake of having one.

If you're still set on getting a tattoo because you really want one to show off to people, get something small. It'll be easier to either cover up or remove later. I suggest maybe your favorite flower, a zodiac symbol, or a star/heart/butterfly. Good luck, and make sure you're not rushing into something that could possibly last your entire life.

Since you don't know yet, take time to think about it-at least a few months. Do some research, both on-line and at local tattoo parlors. A tattoo should never be something done on impulse because you really want one. I did that twice. Bad choices. Had them covered up and redone and now I love them! 8 total pieces on various areas of my body, all of which can be covered up with clothing as needed. It should be something that means something to you-based on a life experience, a crossroads in your life, and like some else said-never the name of a significant other-cuz relationships, whether you are married or not, are not guaranteed.
I wish you all the best, Sweetheart!

If you don't know what you really want, don't get a tattoo. They're pretty close to permanent.

I've put months of planning into all of my tats, and think it's a bad idea to go into this without lots of forethought.

As an addendum, do NOT get a name placed on your body. It's your body, it needs nobody's stamp of ownership. Also, did I mention permanent.

In my opinion you should get a tattoo, if and when you know what you want and where you want it. U have to live with it, so u can't really let someone else decide 4 u.

"you can get a cute cuddly tattoo like a butterfly."... hmmm.. i've never cuddled with a butterfly before.. but if thats your thing; go for it!..

and you are not ready to get a tattoo if you need a bunch of complete strangers to tell you what to get and where. a tattoo is something you do for yourself and it should be something that means something to you.

Why not think for yourself and not get something that someone on a computer told you to get, im sorry im not trying to be a mean person but damn why would you ask other people what to tattoo on you. Its your body.

whatever it is, make sure you're sure about it first! only reason I don't have one, really, is that I can't answer those questions for myself... just can't think of anything "unique" that I wouldn't get tired of by the end of a month, nm 20 years from now!

avoid parts of the body that tend to stretch/sag with age, or build that into the tattoo - and if you manage *that*, congrats for creativity!!

Maybe you should get the word ROBOT on your forehead if you listen to anyones ideas except your own. You have nothing to prove to anybody so why not come up with your own idea. Something that appeals to you and noone else.

On your lower left side of your back, how about a tiny Harley Davison motorcycle? I love them so if I was getting a tat, that's what I'd do. Good luck and have fun!!!
