Because he endowed his human creation with intelligence and with a need to know Him. His son at Matthew 5:3 (at least I think it's verse 3) said that "happy are those conscious of their spiritual need." Filling that need involves asking questions.

Clarification; Here in USA currently, people have an 'equal' mentality, rather than accepting God as superior. That may be part of why many 'Americans' accept the second 'old testament' and do not embrace the scriptural first 'old testament'.
