So my joint tax return was accepted on march 13th and when i checked on the "wheres my refund?" at irs.gov it said i could expect my refund on march 27th. then a week later it changed the date to april 3rd. both of these dates are tuesdays.. since deposits are made on fridays should i be looking for it on march 30th? or on april 6th?

also.. since we have a larger refund this year, could that affect the date change?

It's hard to say whether it will be the 30th or the 6th---both of those dates are Fridays and I know the IRS does their direct deposits on Fridays. Also, everyone I know gets an initial Tuesday refund date, and then it will get updated to the Friday before. The IRS updates their website every Wed, so check back then and see if they have given you a March 30 direct deposit date!
Also, the size of your refund should not determine the time frame of when it is deposited either.

Well, if you requested a direct deposit, you won't have to worry about waiting for a check. Bostonian is correct... the posted dates are an estimate based upon their workload, and the time at which your taxes were filed.

My recommendation is to file AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE next year. I file every year at the beginning of February and always get my state and federal return within a few weeks...

The payment date is an estimate and will often vary for a number of reasons, the IRS workload being a primary one.

Checks are cut and mailed on Fridays. ACH transfers are sent out daily, Monday through Friday, and are usually processed overnight.
