We are planning a trip to NY mid May. We will be 3 of us along with 2 sets of parents. No children. We are planning to stay in New jersey but are not sure of the areas we should keep in mind and the areas we shouldnt venture into. And also we are going to be there for 3 nights and 2 days. I was wondering if anyone might have any idea of how to make the most out of NY in that time. We are not planning for any broadway shows... What about Chinatown? any suggestions in that places....

Visit Mott Street in Chinatown. Also Canal Street, which is lined with cheap stuff stores. Once you finish with Chinatown, walk over to the Seaport. Once there you could walk over to Battery Park. Then up Broadway and turn on Wall Street and visit Federal Hall and the NYSE. For the second day, take a tour around 57th Street. Visit the broadcasting museum and Carnegie Hall. Then walk over to Lincoln Center. Once you finish there to to Central Park. Visit the zoo. Once that's done, you could either walk the East Side or West Side. The East Side has the Metropolitian Museum, the West Side has John Lennon's Strawberry Field. That should take you two days.

Hello! New Jerseyian here and I go to New York at least once a month. If you plan on staying in Jersey I would recommend staying in Hoboken or Jersey City because you can hop on the subway, path train, or boat to get right to the city. As for the must sees, Times Square, Ground Zero, Chinatown is nice, Little Italy, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, there is so much, trust me, once you get there you will run out of time to do everything!
