the cord is for to put the video to the tv! if you are trying to record from the tv to the camera, point the cam at the tv screen!

It depends on if your camcorder can accept AV inputs or not. The AV port on most lower end camcorders can only send a output signal - so you can watch the videos by connecting to a television set. Higher end camcorder has multi-function AV port that can also accept & record an incoming signal.

only if your camera has input capability. this is covered in most owners manuals. some sony models had a menu change so output would become input.
