I'm getting all kinds of conflicting info on eating mahi mahi. There is a restaurant in town that has this AWESOME mahi mahi sandwich. Some websites say that you can eat up to six servings per month of mahi mahi...but then when I use the "mercury thermometer" it says I'm eating too much by having one serving in a week. I don't want to hurt the baby by having mercury, but is there any clear cut answer on this?! Fish is so good for you and for baby, but clearly mercury is not?!

Well, I'm fully aware that there will be times in the future to enjoy fish, but that's jut it. Fish is very healthy for the baby and I'm not a big fan of it. This is one of the only fish foods I like, which is why I asked.
"Why is this difficult?" Wow, some people are so rude!

Your doctor can give you the best answer, but from what I have read, the amount of mercury present in one weekly serving of Mahi Mahi is not enough to hurt your baby. Everything in moderation.

I asked my doctor when I was pregnant and he said that Mahi Mahi had really high levels of Mercury in them and just to aviod it b/c it had such high quanties of it in it. So, I'm not going to tell you what to do, but I did avoid it. Cause I didn't what anything in my body that my doctor told me was not "safe" . Hope this helps and good luck with you baby!!

find out who supplies the fish and research where they are being harvested. Maybe you can get a more accurate level of Mercury in the fish you're eating. There are other things you could go to for the nutrition, vegetables, vitamin supplements. You'll have many opportunities to enjoy fish in the future, while you've only got this one to do the right thing for your baby.

I am sure the resturant will still be there when you have your baby. I know that no one could say sushi in fronto of me while I was pregnant. I went from eating sushi once a week to not eating it all. Now I have had my baby........hmmmm, i need to go find some. Everything in moderation. There are other kinds of fish that are lower in mercury.

"Acceptable" levels set by governmental offices are NOT reliable guidance. If you are expecting a child, avoid anything remotely poisonous. Why is this difficult? Mercury, by the way, is used in a lot of inoculations as a carrier; it has been purported to cause autism. (You will, of course, find arguments about all of this but poison is poison.)
