A lot of innocent children don't get enough food, and in some places even starve to death. Other children have to work in sweat shops for 14 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 25 cents an hour. Some children, orphaned or abandoned by their parents, have to beg on the streets. Other children are repeatedly whipped and spanked by their fathers or step-fathers.
Many of these children won't go to heaven after they die, because they have a different religion from Christianity, and will never have a chance to accept Christ as their savior. But if God won't allow them into heaven, at least He might try to reduce the amount of pain and suffering they are experiencing now.
So could God improve the present lives of these children if He wanted to?

No, god could not as god is imaginary.
We as human beings, though, could stop trying to pray to a fictional being to help solve our problems, take responsibility for our own lives, and change the world for the better.

It's not for God to do. It's our duty here. That's what our lives are for. Helping each other out.
Some of the most popular "Christian evangelists" are the most wealthy people on earth. Why is that when Jesus himself says that it is easier for a Camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven...
These people could feed, clothe and provide water for whole villages. But instead they hoard it.
Same goes for the meat industry. They are beyond wealthy. But the government keeps making rules for them to gain more wealth, exploit and murder more animals, and serve us Americans substandard food.
Boycott clothing made in sweat shops. That includes a number of "top end" sneakers like Nike. Buy only organic meat. Don't buy from Starbucks as they buy coffee picked with child labor.
Get out there and make your voice heard.
You might want to pick up a Catechism of the Catholic Church. It has a wonderfully uplifiting section on how those who do not know Jesus may still attain heaven.
God Bless!

Man brings pain and suffering to God's kingdom. But the question is what can we do to alleviate the suffering.
Get involved and live the Christian life in politics and also in your life.
Jesus died for all people past and to come 1,000,000 years from now. Who knows who Jesus will invite into his kingdom?
I know for me the buck stops here, right on my personal life today, and until the day I check out. So we must not condemn and watch that when we point, we don't have three fingers point "condemn" at ourselves. Pray for the people that are suffering. Adopt a child. Forgive someone. Help others.

Clearly, he doesn't want to, or can't or doesn't exist.
The merciful believe he doesn't exist, and that there is no controlling power that causes these horrific events to take place. They are random events.
The cynics believe that he can't, and that he doesn't even know what is happening in this world.
Christians believe that he can, but chooses not to for some reason beyond our ability to understand. This is a physiological response that takes God's responsibility and places it to the side, so that one can keep telling themselves that he is a God of love. It is outside of logic. If a Muslim says that their religion is peaceful, Christians respond with the actions of the terrorists as being indicative of what their religion teaches. Christians believe this is proof that it is a religion of violence. If that is true, then using the same logic on the Christian God who creates babies that he knows are going to starve to death proves that he is a God of cruelty vs Love, as taught.

If God is an omnipotent personal being then it would not only have the ability but moral obligation to help its creations to survive and prosper.
Of course, no deity actually exists to direct us around (thankfully!) so we will have to take responsibility for ourselves.

How dare you question God. Obviously God has a good reason for why these children must suffer. If god feels they deserve to suffer and be tortured for being imperfect then you should not question it.

Karma and reincarnation explains suffering of the "innocent". No one is "innocent". Although we don't recall past lives, being reborn into vastly different sets of circumstances is the way to teach us the error of our previous wrong choices and actions. God is just. His system is perfect.
