I have a vague recollection of drinking a pint in a pub in the 1970's - am I right?

yes it was!! and at that time you could also go and have a 1/4 of a pint!! i've seen the glasses! they are very cute!!
ale used to be alot stronger than it is today, special brew was not out of the ordinary back then...life was hard...people got drunk!!

God forbid! Two pints of that and you'd be under the table.
No, I was drinking in pubs that far back - and the only Carlsberg I recall is the usual gnats piss. Even if draught special brew had been available I can't imagine any licensee ever stocking it as it would have caused trouble and attracted the wrong clientele!

Never seen it on tap. Bad Manners wrote a rapid song about it called naturally "Special Brew".

Yes it was I had a pint in Denmark in 1994, it was a dark colour, very nice too.
