Stay well clear of Bakers - you be surprised with the amount of s**t there is is it - try an look around for any food claming to be free of it.

I use Dodson and Horrell Chudleys (looks like rabbit food but dog loves it!) I dont think there is a puppy version.

I get the impression James WellBeloved prides itself about its natral ingredients. They do a puppy version.

Do stay away from tinned meat, anyone who feeds it should look at the ingredients! However, I was looking at Whiskers Cat meat the other day and the ingredients were not very unhelpfull!

Failing any other dog food, Boiled rice and chicken (perhaps a tiny amount of gravey), but do be aware that you will have to do some serious weaning to get them off it - dog food just dont taste the same!!

I always give my dog it if he has had the runs and it works to conbine him up again.

Good Luck with little pup!

When I got my puppy at 8 weeks, he was feed Purina Puppy Chow up until he was 10 months old. It's a bit expensive but really healthy and it didn't apply to that horrible recall! When it comes to wet food, he gets Pedigree puppy. It's light on their tummies, but I wouldn't recommend you give your puppy wet food til about 6 months or so, unless it's in very small portions. Also, now that my puppy is over a year old, he gets a chunk of steak or any other meat to keep his coat shiny. Just some pointers!

Her lose stools is probably cause she allergic to something in the food. I would go to the shops and look for something more holistic and better quality. Bakers Puppy complete doesnt sound like an American type food I take it your UK? I would just discuss some other foods with the vet or a local pet store. Do some research. Stay away from grain in the food, try to stay with more meat product, or more natural foods. 6 years ago I turned to a all natural diet and make my own food from the B.A.R.F. recipies. I never have had problems with this and stools are always small, normal and not super smelly.

Boiled rice
The food you are giving her may be too rich.
I bred Alsatians and my vet recomended Chappie and rice.
It is the cheapest dog food and smells awfull but dogs love it and it contains fish/meat and cereal.
Dogs need a balance of roughage and protein. Many mass produced dry mixes contain high salt levels and colourings.
I am also convinced that some contain stimulants as Pedigree chum products seemed to make my dogs hyper.
What ever you give your puppy will programme it tummy so a variaty of foods is better than sticking to one product. Avoid liver at this stage and definatly NO Dark Chocolate.
Good luck

Hi there, I have a 10 year old dog, and have the same problem going on with my dog and loose stools. My vet just had me put him on 1/2 an Imodium AD (the very very small pills) that you can buy Over the Counter at any drug store. BUT, please please please check with your vet first. With a puppy this young, you don't want to mess up their insides at this young of age. Also, if you are feeding them wet food, stop, and start feeding them the dry food. This could be the source of the problem as well. Just check with your Vet, they go to school for a long time to help you out with this. Good luck and congrats on your puppy!

Try James Wellbeloved puppy performance. They do a puppy/junior performance as well but its for older puppies so check carefully. The packaging looks very similar.
Our puppy was on this when we got him and he's had no tummy upsets and firm stools all the time. He's now 5 months and still doing well on it.

Bakers food is notorious for giving dogs, especially puppies a dodgy tummy, because it is too rich and full of rubbish. Get the pup onto a better quality puppy food, such as one from the vets or james well beloved, which is good for sensitive tummies

She has too much moisture in her diet. I would mix in some dry food (is bakers a dry food? I don't know that brand).

Also, when I had my puppy that young, when she'd get her vaccines she'd get diarrhea. Is she on meds for anything?

It could also be the different environment that she's in that's stressing her out. She's away from the mom... new home...

Lastly, I've heard that diarrhea is a sign of worms so (i know its gross) but check out the poop and make sure there's nothing in it. They could be dead (if she's talking deworming meds) or they could be alive.

I strongly suspect that with the recall NO DOG FOOD IS SAFE TO RECOMMEND! FEED RICE INSTEAD! See what happens. REmember the hamburger (MAD COW 1.00 sale) It seems that even poisoned food is never really discarded rather simply put somewhere else wher eno one suspects it to be. This is a completely different type of terrorism. it is completely indiscrimanant and kills or harms pets and I suspect humans alike. WHere is our recall? HOw do we know the poisoned wheat did nto end up in our food. Look for crystals in the urine. and extreme thirst. Blood test amoung other things are required for diagnosis.

If it's a wet food, start implementing a dry food such as Iam's or Science Diet. It does make a difference in what food you use even though you wouldn't think that it does.
