Life on distant planets might have religion too. Is nowhere safe?
It would of course be incorporated into church and biblical doctrine in some way. The argument would be that if there's life on other planets then god put it there. There is no room for logical dispute in this inane assertion. EVERYTHING can be attributed to "god's power" or "satan's influence".
Nope, religion would go on just as before.

First why do you think that discovering "Life" on other planets would challenge religion?
Isn't it possible that our general version of "GOD" is also a God who was capable of creating life on other planets?
If that "Life" was "created in his/her image" like we were(according to scripture), wouldn't they also have "religion" or a belief system based on a "God" ?
Why do you assume that GOD created an entire universe and then only used 1 little blue planet (Earth) to inhabit with his/her "children" ?
I think that it should not change a thing for religion.
Except perhaps to enlighten those who have a narrow view of just what "GOD" is. Besides isn't it taught that "GOD" created the universe...therefore all life
I assume your going on the premise that some people would not be able to up hold their sense of superiority based on their"religious" beliefs...such as the idea/belief that we are somehow "special" in the universe. Just like when people believed the earth was flat, an idea enforced by the christian "religion" designed to control people of the time and instill fear.
Discovering that there is "life" on distant planets would reinforce my belief that we are part of a higher intelligence, and not necessarily based on world based "religions".
Besides some of the major religions (Islam, Judaism, Christianity)are derived from the same root see here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ezekiel
GOD created the UNIVERSE not - just earth!

I don't think anything thing will happen to religion. As far as I know no religion (except Scientology) really talks about life on other planets. Personally (and in my own belief) I don't think God has to tell us if he made other creatures or other humans. I would still believe the same way I do now. Why does everyone have to pick on Christians? If you weren't all busy pointing and mocking you might have noticed that there are actually other religions filled with "crazy" people who have killed themselves to board the mothership. So what if we do build a spaceship and preach to the aliens, perhaps they wouldn't mind.

Hi,
In which of the 3 religions God said that there is no life except on earth? none.
you have to believe that the manufacturer who manufactured any thing and gave you a user manual knows better than you in what was manufactured.
The holy books like this user manual, and God is like the manufacturer do you think that there is any thing that he does not know about what he manufactured? No he knows every thing and there is no chance that some thing goes by accident.
Who created the human kind but Allah? can you tell? if no this means that no body knows better than Allah.
Allah said if the sea was the ink of Allah pen, then the sea will finish before Allah words (knowledge) ends.
When you fear from some thing to whom you pray and ask for help? but Allah.
Allah does not deserve from you to ask such questions. you have to believe even though you can not see him, he is very close to you than your blood in your body.
Please read the 3 God Holy books and I hope you to be believer.
Regards.

I believe that you have individuals who dig deeper for answers outside of what they learn on Sunday mornings or Wednesday night bible studies. Some people want answers to every little qoute or phrase and some just want enough to believe its enough to get them to heaven...and that's all that their concerned about. God is the creator of the Universe and all of its inhabitants....Now I would be curious to know what the other creatures look like since there planet atmosphere would be different and then there's the question also....we just know of the solar system that we were taught...and can see....I'm sure the universe holds even more that man just hasn't been able to reach yet with our technology....

Life in the distant past creates problems for people who think the Bible is indisputable.
The Bible claims the earth is only 6000 years old. We now know that is not true. The early church claimed that the earth was flat and jailed or killed any one who said it round. A least they have grown beyond that kind of cruel behavior

why would it change anything? No religion i know of specifically denies life on other planets, the bible does not tell me what brand of cereal to eat, that does not make it anti-cereal.
Just because other life forms are not mentioned, does not make them against religion.
what are you going to do if you find that these extra terrestials have religions and creation stories just like ours?

Most likely they will send missionaries to Alpha-Ceti 4 to convert the local Zills away from their belief in T'nugk Flat'qur and to accept Jesus as the true Kat'maquare.
