I have to be honest. The two people I know who struggle with fibro have found that a mild illegal drug that I probably shouldn't name here (it's green and, well, I hear it grows like a weed, wink wink) was the best thing for managing their pain without making them feel like zombies from the medication.
I am not suggesting illegal behavior. Merely passing along what I have been told.

RE:
I suffer with Fibromyalgia and back pain. Is there a drug under Morphine to treat this better than percocet?
I am on the Fentanyl Patch at 100mcg but it doesn't help Fibromyalgia along with chronic back pain. They gave me Percocet 7.5 for intermitten pain but it doesn't help. Have any suggestions. I want to know if there is a drug that is strong enough under Methodone that will help control the...

I too have Fibromyalgia and though I stopped taking pain pills so I wouldn't feel like I was floating through my childrens lives, I have still managed the pain pretty well. I do hot tub soaks often, regular back messages (even if its from the significant other for a few minutes) With some icy hot rub, I tend to use the odor free brands however. The greatest thing that has worked for me was sleeping on a heated water bed. You don't mention your age, however be aware that by taking pain pills after time your body will not only become dependent upon it, it will no longer react to it because it becomes immune to the drug. This occured with my mother and no pain pill except that of illegal kinds were effective by the time of her death at 72. I know the pain you feel and I wish you the best.

I know what you're going through, I too have Fibromyalgia in my right scapula / shoulder, as well as irritated facet joints from the c-01 - the c-5/6 cervical spine, and severe whiplash caused from a car accident 6 years ago, I have been on the pain killer merry go round ever since, I have followed my Dr's instructions to the letter, I am unable to take anti - inflammatories due to a duodenal stomache ulcer, I throw up blood...not a good solution, so the Specialists trialed me on many different drugs, my G.P. has trialed me on even more, to cut a huge story down to size - the main drugs have been a combination of slow release Morphine such as Kapanol and M.S. Contin, both of which caused such severe depression I'm very lucky to still be here. I am now on Ordine (Morphine syrup) upto 400mg per day, I also take Panadeine Forte - 30mg of Codeine and 500mg of Paracetamol, and IM injections of Morphine for break through pain, this combination works for me, so does massage (when we can afford it) and accupuncture, I feel really ashamed when people find out I'm on Morphine...... incase they think I'm a junkie, because unless you have lived with chronic pain no one knows how important pain relief is, let me know how you go, Yvette

Having suffered from fibro for over 10 years, recovered from a severe addiction to morphine, and having known all the losses that can accompany this life altering syndrome. I feel I speak from experience when I say diet & exercise is the best way to live a pain free life. Wait b4 you groan and scroll to the next one.. I know, I know...
After awhile you need more and more pain meds... they just don't work as well as they did B4. Where does it end? It's not a terminal disease and you still want a life.... right?
I've come to define Fibromyaliga as an energy disorder or imbalance. So when we feed our body with nutrition and other healthy energies -stretching, toning and strengthening . And surround yourself with light and love our bodies energies which misfire and run amok causing that never ending pain, start to right themselves and soon you start seeing all your symptoms start to minimize.
This takes time! But each day is better and better... now ... some days I even forget.

I took morphine for six months and it worked for a while, but I was still in a lot of pain and its not a very good pain releiver as I had hoped. I then switched to topamax which is prescribed for nerve pain. Another common nerve medicine is Neurotin. They both are mood stabilizers so they may help you with depression too. Topamax took away most of my pain. I find for myself I feel better avoiding all temperature extremes. I avoid all heat and cold, which has helped a lot. I heard that the antidepressant Cymbalta is helpful for some people with fibro. Another pain medication that people take is Ultram.

I, too, have severe fibromyalgia and back pain. The magic combination for me (though it's starting to stop working as well) is: Tramadol 100mg every 8 hours (3x daily), Ibuprofen 600mg every 8 hours (3x daily), and for breakthrough pain I take Tylenol #4 with Codeine (1 or 2 pills, only as needed ... I rarely have to take it more than once or twice a week except during really bad flares).
Other than that, it's all about aquatic exercise (gentle strengthening, stretching and walking in warm water pool), walking (even if i need pain meds in order to walk), strengthening my stomach muscles to better support my back (Pilates methods), stretching daily, sleeping 9-10 hours a night, eating a healthy and anti-inflammatory diet, taking Omega 3 fish oil supplement... And stress relief and relaxation. I meditate, and take hot baths, and occasional acupuncture or massage to help manage pain.

Even if the drugs show up, I can not see how taking prescribed medications from a doctor would destroy your chances of working there. If you have a problem you should try to get a note from the doctor and the hospital explaining why the drugs showed up. Good Luck, and drive safely
