Friends keep telling me if my daughter has not had a boyfriend for years it is due to me, her mother, having a too strong personality. Can a mother's personality hamper a girl from finding a boyfriend ?

Tell your friends to butt out of your daughter's life.
Then YOU should also butt out.
Her life- her choices. She wants to share with you, listen.
Otherwise- just be supportive.

Believe me- the pickings are slim out there.
Sounds like your kid has standards.

Too much of anything is bad enough .. I'd rather say that a mother's too weak personality can ruin her daughter. Moderation is a real balance guiding the daughter independantly afterwards.
As for excessive strong personality and its reflection on a daughter's relation is not a passive implication, on the contrary I think, it creates a strong judging personality to know how to read the others mind and consequently have the fastest right choices possible.
Regarding the late relationships in the daughter's life is not on purpose related to the strong personality of a mother coz there is another derived role of that daughter's personality whether to be attractive or repulsive.

Everyone is affected whether positively or negatively from the parents but still outta of our hands another new formation of us emerge.

I couldnt really imagine how so.That seems a bit exetreme Unless she lives at home and you constantly meddling in her life perhaps? i could see maybe something of that nature perhaps hampering her social life. but all in all i'd still say No.
