If you meant veterans working with active duty, they're called civilian contractors and how to get one of those jobs is to know someone that works there already, for the most part, since these jobs are in such high demands.

If you mean "vet" as in "veterinarian," there most certainly are positions in the military for them, and they do the same things that a vet on the outside does. People in the military DO have pets, you know, and all of the services use Military Working Dogs for their military/security police forces.

Some branches of the military are the top-rated highest technological organizations in the world today; it takes talent from all career categories to make a organization of such magnitude work.
Other than joining and completing a 20 year career in the military or working for the civil service, I am not sure any career exists today. Good luck on your search.

Yes, there are military veterinarian clinics on every post, you'd be doing the same thing as a regular vet.

I take it you mean Veterinarian? Yes!! We currently have Vets in Iraq looking over the livestock..also done in other impoverished countries

check meat at commissaries ( really)
and take care of pets.
the army bases often have stables ,remnants of the cavalry.
