Personally i don't see the problem with taking them out a few days earlier to save more money because as you say travel agents do try to rip you off for just a few days, i know if they only had a few days left in school before the summer holidays these are usually spent doing nothing anyway so why not take them they would have more fun anyway and you would save yourself about £200!!!

If you take them out more than 10 working days then you will be fined....instead of taking them on holiday buy some stuff with the money you would spend on holiday and the money for your fine.
Each school year you can take your kids out for up to ten working days except for Doctors onr Dentist.
If not pay the expense. Or dont take your kids get relatvies or friends to look after them
Hope Ive helped.

I was a seventh grade teacher for seven years and I never got this. The people who did take their kids out never even so much as called to see what to do to help them catch up.
Once in a while I'd get a request for work to take with them and I always thought it was just a way to keep them busy.... I never saw any of that work after the vacation.
I think that traveling with your family is important and you only have so many years to do it. So I would do it as often as I could. If your kids are smart they'll have no problem catching up. If they aren't then spend a little money use save on a tutor when you get back each time.

wen i was at school my mum n dad used to take me out for just one or two days before holiday or at end. then you can normally get slightly cheaper flights.
Its very annoying but taking to much time off school can make your children fall behind.
One or two days wouldnt make huge amount of difference same as being of sick!

we usually take our vacations during school vacation so that i can take my family with me. it doesnt matter to me whether it is expensive or not as long as we are comfortable during our holidays and happy. that is what matter most to me. There's no point of getting fined do it during school break.

you are allowed upto 10 days ...but if you have allready done your limit the fine is nothing like the extra cost of the holiday. I am sure teachers do find it annoying but not as annoying as it is to parents when you have to fit in teachers training days at work when they allready get 12 weeks off.

as a teacher i know that there is nothing more infuriating than kids missing work because they go on holiday during school time.
