I'm attending my fraternity brother's weekend wedding in Fillmore, Indiana. My flight from LaGuardia airport to Indianapolis International Airport on US Airways was around $250. I had to book a few weeks in advance. I usually find the cheaper fairs for round trips between LGA and IND to be US Airways, Northwest Airways, and ATA. Since you don't get any deals for purchasing two tickets instead of one, just double the flight cost given in my examples.

Flying into LGA is the most convenient, but you will either need to get a taxi (around $30-40 about 30 mins) to get into Manhattan, or you can take public transportation for $2.00, but it'll take 2 hours. You can shave about $50-100 if you fly into Newark airport in neighboring state NJ (it's still relatively close to NYC, but I usually never go that route).

If you're flying into LaGuardia airport from IND, and you're booking about 3-4 weeks in advance, I believe your fare price would range from $200 - 350 per ticket. If you're booking about 1 week in advance, the price could skyrocket to $500+ per ticket.

If you're on a budget and want to save money. Finding odd flight times that are less traveled usually are cheaper. Think weekday, early morning or late evening. I'm flying back at 7:30 am in the morning and that's what's keeping my tickets low, non-stop flight both ways.

I like to use www.orbitz.com to find inexpensive flights. Tip: don't book via orbitz, go directly to the airline's website. You'll save the "fee" that orbitz charges and you'll receive a preference with the airline because you booked directly, not through a third party.
If you're dates are flexible you can get an even cheaper fare. Look for dates that are Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Saturdays - these are usually the cheaper ones.
