My favorite grocery is Nob Hill, but it can be expensive so I settle for Safeway and Albertsons. For a department store it's either Nordstroms or Macys.

Aldi's for food items like can'd goods but I like wal-marts veriety of stuff.
If you go to the Dominican Republic "La Sirena" si the best store( I live in the D.R.)

my fave supermarket is Asda/Wal Mart, luckily I have one about 3 mins walks away from my apartment :o) fave department stores are Fenwicks in UK and Bloomingdales in USA, I especially love their bag departments
