You didn't mention your age, weight, etc. Stage 2 hypertension is very serious - pay attention - take your meds. I would also get a second opinion - be sure to be completely honest with you Dr. and make sure he/she doesn't have some moral agenda like a religion which prohibits drinking. I had a Dr. who told me that at 2 drinks a day I was a complete alcoholic. Found out later he was a newly converted Bible Baptist and was giving medical advice influenced more by his religious beliefs than his medical training....(its a long story). Alcohol will lower your blood pressure temporarily, but your BP will be slightly higher when the alcohol effect is gone. You may have to make a lifestyle choice. If you choose to drink you may shorten your life simple as that. Also, tell you wife that nagging is not helping OK? As for exercise and yardwork - I though most exercise (if done at a reasonable pace) was good for you.

Hello.
I would like you to try what Edgar Cayce gave in a reading for someone who had hypertension. The excerpt reading is as follows:
Dissolve a full teaspoonful of strained honey into a glass or tumbler of heated milk. Taking this about 20 to 30 minutes before retiring will be found to be most helpful. 1539-1

I would recommend try this for a while, say two months-one week so the next no, and so on- and see how it goes. I would also say try not to drink at all or at least as much as you can, until you see improvements. Then drink, but in MODERATION. Alcohols taken evenings (in moderation) are very well. And make it the red wine for the better. Taken alone or with black or brown bread, not with meals but as or in between meals, and not too much. Just once a day. It is body, blood and brain building.
Also take a walk for an hour or so daily to relieve stress. Do exercise, but use common sense. Don't overdo it.
Hope that helps. Take care and God bless.

He who understands nature walks close with God.

Talk to your doctor about the no drinking rule. Maybe drinking certain types of alcohol such as wine with dinner is acceptable. I thought moderate alcohol consumption was supposed to be good for you. Does alcohol interfere with the medication? If not I would ask the doctor why you cannot drink at all. Sometimes people like to push their personal issues off on you rather than give objective advice. You could always get a second opinion.

Go ahead and drink more, it will mess up the pills you are taking and make the blood pressure go up. Your body will just quit on you, and dead people don't feel much stress.

If you want to go on living, find some way to cope with your wife and with not drinking. You might even find the Earth a better place to be living in.

There are many places to get help, if you want to stay alive.
