I am a staff nurse in the UK, we have to have certain gcse's to get into uni, which are maths, English, science grade c or above, which you take at school, then it is either a 3 year course for diploma and 4 years for degree, we also have health care assistants in the UK which no training is needed

When i started in 2001 i had a GNVQ level 2, a NVQ level 3, and then went to university to do a degree in nursing which was 3 long hard years. I know that when i qualified the entry requirements were changing. If you go to your local university website they can tell you there because every uni is different.

Im a student nurse.

You need to have at the very least (to be a staff nurse) a Diploma in Professional Studies in Nursing (DPSN). This will get you onto the live register.

What im studying.

You need a college education. We have 2 year and 4 year registered nurses. There are a few LPN's which is less education, but either way...You need college credits and then are tested before receiving a certificate.

diploma and/or degree in adult general nursing

there is also childrens, learning difficulty and mental health nursing.

The diploma takes three years to achieve the first year learning the above three and the other two years in your chosen field.

Normaly you have five GCSE s at c grade or above to get in to university or you can go to college with three GCSE s at C grade and get an NVQ2 in care and relevent certificates such as counciling and first aid which will also get you in to uni as both give you work experiance in a hospitol setting.
