You may get your certificate of non-criminality 'apostilled' from the Legalisation Section of the consular Division of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London (Old Admiralty Building), Westminster.

Where you get the non-criminality letter from depends upon the Police Constabulary area in which you live - ask your local police station.

From whom do they want the letter? Local police? District attorney? State attorney general? The apostille is a certificate from your state's Secretary of State or Governor that the official signing the letter is in fact the official who is signing & has the authority to sign.

You can get a history of convictions form the Police. They can provide a statement of non criminality. Apostille is done by your local crown officer.

You need to pop into your local Police Station and request a Data Disclosure Form, complete the form in full and return it to the Police Station along with 10 pounds (nothing free these days!) and some ID showing your full name, DOB and current address (can be more than one document) but an up to date drivers license is fine. they will take your tenner, check the form and ID. and you will receive a response in NO MORE than 40 days.

Provided u live in the UK of course :)
