He is almost 7 weeks (as of 03/26/07) - we have an appt at the vet tomorrow. His mom was a mutt (dumped dog that someone rescued) and they dont know who the dad is.

I would guess that he has some German Shephard in him.

After the Shepard resemblence, it's hard to tell of another breed. Why don't you ask that question again in say 3 to 5 months (that is if your still not sure) My g/f has a Chow mix that the vet said is mixed w/ a Lab. I don't see the Lab in him but when he chases my other dog and or us, he tends to nip at our heels so I am convinced this dog is a Chow mixed w/ a Herding breed.

It's hard to say when they're so young - when he's about 4 months old it will be easier to say for sure. My guess would be a Rottweiler-German Shepherd mix too. Do a Google image search for 'Rottweiler Shepherd mix' or 'rottie mix', or 'rottweiler GSD mix' etc. and you'll come up with some photos of dogs that look somewhat similar.

He's very cute!

That coloration could come from a lot of breeds, not just shepherd or rottie. I think he looks like a little lab puppy with some odd coloration but like a lot of others have said, hard to tell at an early age.

Either way.... Cutie Patootie!!

We used to get a lot of puppies that looked like this when I worked for a rescue group. <3
Looks like a German Shepard mix. But it could be a doberman mix. Possibly a little beagle.
But what ever you do, don't let him have anymore Starbucks. ~_^

You are right he is a mutt but I would say some shepherd/ rottie is in him. You need to give more details like age. When he is full grown you will be able to tell better.
Good luck and cute little guy.

It is hard to tell at such a young age. Once he is an adult it will be much easier. My guess would be either a german shepherd/rottweiler mix, or a rottweiler/beagle mix. He is an absolutely adorable pup!

Hard to tell so young. Anywhere from a German Shepherd to an English Shepherd.
